Liquid Hero American AleBefore I go into the beer itself, a bit of history and information is order concerning the Liquid Hero story. I was fortunate to be introuduced to Liquid Hero before there was a Liquid Hero brewery. They provided the liquid refreshment for a Realtor event in York Pa, after just one taste I was hooked. Liquid Hero is a wonderful addition to the South Central Pa family of craft beer breweries. They just opened at there new location, right across from the York Revolution Baseball Stadium, they offer brew tasting and take out Growlers. What I find interesting about Liquid Hero is their story which you can read on their website. Three friends on a quest for better beer find themselves brewing and offering a top qaulity product that is very popular in the York, Adams and Lancaster county area’s. They have found themselves a wonderful location, and I believe we will be hearing about Liquid Hero for quite some time as they grow.
I for one wish Josh, Christian, and Matt all the best (of course that is purely selfish in that I love the beer) and continued success in their business adventure. Look for more reviews of Liquid Hero products here at Spirits of Gettysburg Gerry. Their Porter will be available in about 6 weeks, those of you that follow this blog know my love for the dark beers, Liquid Hero’s offering is one I am anxiously awaiting. Now on to the beer.
Americian Hero Ale is an amber ale that is as full bodied as it is full flavored. As with many amber ales American Hero leans toward a copper color that starts out a bit cloudy at the pour and clears as the beer warms in the glass, which makes me think the beer is dry hopped although I do not know that for sure. The low carbonation and malt flavor gives this ale a big bold taste, yet it finishes smooth with just a hint of citrus. The lace is compact and stays on the glass throughout the length of consumption.
American Hero is a winner for this beer lover, and it will be a staple on my beer list. Liquid Hero is located at 50 East North St, York, Pa 17401. Hours are Thurs to Fri 6-9pm, Sat 2-8pm & Sun 12-5pm. Stop on in and say hello, tell them Gettysburg Gerry sent you.
